Six kilometres offshore from Maragogi, a reef called the Galés lies just below the surface, and when the water drops low enough - ideally to around 0.4 metres - the sea over it becomes a set of pools you can stand up in. Passengers step off the catamaran into water that is warm, waist-deep and clear enough to read the pattern on a fish two metres away, with open Atlantic on every horizon and no land in sight. The tour lasts about two hours, because in two hours the tide takes it all back.
