The rock they were working through was red Cretaceous sandstone, and the animals inside it had been dead for something between 83 and 66 million years. Word reached Llewellyn Ivor Price, a palaeontologist with Brazil's mineral production department, who came to look and then kept coming back for nearly thirty years. What that accidental roadcut opened was the Bauru Group: a stack of continental sediments spread beneath the Triângulo Mineiro and western São Paulo that holds the most diverse Late Cretaceous archosaur record in Brazil.]]></description>
